This slush recipe is a copy cat drink from one of the biggest coffee shop chains. It is very versatile that you can give a spin with your creativity. There is no limit but the sky. It's awesome to bring it along for a road trip or simply enjoy it at home when the mood hits.

My son loves Dunkin Donuts strawberry coolatta. When we are on the road for a long trip, it makes sense to stop in to get one. But for the sake of having it and making a special trip to buy one, that’s super expensive. Besides, the quality is not guaranteed. We stopped at a branch when we were on vacation in Ohio that the drink was way off. The branch was kind enough to make another cup for us. But it was a totally different “recipe” they used. It saves a hack of a lot of money if you make it at home. I have been wanting to make this for a long time. It was so awesome that you actually can make it and taste just like one buying from the coffee chain.
Anyway, the purpose of this recipe is to allow big family to make this delicious and heat-chasing drink with a ridiculous low budget. What I meant is that you will get 4 serving for the price of one. You don't have to line up in the drive-thru or even make a special trip to the coffee shop. You can enjoy it in the comfort of your home.
Unlike any slush recipe or slushy you always see in the carnivals, every sip, every bite is tasty. You don't taste any flavorless crushed ice at all.
If you have several thermos at home, that would be perfect. The thermos are great to stand in the heat and allow the coolatta to stay frozen for a longer period of time. But if you want to use see through plastic cups just like the coffee shop, nobody stops you. Feel free to do so.
The colors of this drink served in the coffee chain are more vibrant. You may not see it in this slush recipe. If you are the kind of person that must eat with your eyes, a couple drops of food coloring is fine. I, personally, stay away from it on purpose.
When you are in the coffee shop, you have an option to add whipped cream on top of this frozen drink. My son prefers to skip it. So, this ingredient is totally optional.
You can also treat this copycat recipe as ICEE that you can get from some chain convenient stores. There are many flavors that you can re-create or doc up by yourself. Here are some suggestions:
Bear in mind that these flavors may not be available in your grocery stores. But some can be made by combining different flavors together by following the instructions of this recipe.
Share with us your favorite flavor(s) and new flavors you created.
This is a great option if you find any above flavors not available in the local stores. Pureed frozen fruit, obviously, is in the frozen section where they mainly put together with other international food items. They are in the vaccume-sealed flattened bags. It's very easy for storage in the freezer.
Definitely. There are some frozen concentrates in the supermarkets, such as Pine Colada, Margarita, Sangria and Strawberry Daiquiri and so forth. But I only focus on family-friendly recipes. So, I didn't explore this option. Please feel free to share with us your experience if you choose to do so.
