I originally planned to make this as 2 separate dishes and recipes. But I was stuck of how to pair the mashed broccoli. Then, the shrimp sausage recipe alone seems not enough to serve for a family of 4. I somehow put them together like throwing a die and it turned out A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
CHEF NOTES
Feel free to replace mashed broccoli with mashed cauliflower. If you are a carb eater, pair it with grits. That would be amazing, too.
If you are not a fan of seafood, replace shrimp with chicken breast. Cut the meat in small bite size which would be easier to cook through and eat. Just be aware that it will take longer to get the chicken thoroughly cooked through.
If you purchase shrimp which are already shelled for you, it will save you a lot of time from preparing it. I always go by whatever is on sale.
Both sausage and shrimp takes very little time to cook. It's perfect for cooking on the grill during summer. Then, you won't heat up the house.
When sausage going back into the skillet with the shrimp, it could be a bit dry. If so, add 1/4 cup of water, the juice will work perfectly with the mashed vegetables.
One of the ways to plate this dish without mixing everything together.
